better a lil' late than never...right? :)

this entry is lonnng overdue. but between feedings, diaper changing, catching up on projects, and trying to sleep, well, late is better than nothing.

on may 3, i met the new love of my life (not to be confused with the other love of my life ;). we weren't expecting her for another three weeks and were quite unprepared - my husband had only assembled her bed the day before, thinking we had more time. but when she arrived, we were just grateful she was healthy and beautiful. ever since then, our lives have been a whirlwind of emotions, not to mention we have had to adjust to a whole new schedule that is no longer centered around us.

over the past six weeks, i've taken countless photos of charlie, many of which i have shared on facebook and flickr. i now understand how mothers feel about their child. the adoration, the awe, the endless gushing over their little one. i admit, being a mom wasn't something i had imagined for myself. but now that i have been blessed with this precious package, i just cant get enough of her... its really difficult to express how much joy this tiny person can bring!

these are just a few of my favorites from the growing collection. not even two months and she's already looking into the camera... i just hope she will like having her picture taken because she is officially my new muse. :)

los angeles family session ~ a beautiful family

on my facebook page, i asked the question, "what do you get when you bring together two beautiful people in love?" well, you just guessed it! A BEAUTIFUL FAMILY! i knew melissa and omar was an adorable couple, but i got to know them even better on the day of our shoot, and i just couldnt help but fall in love with them as a couple and as a family. they are so loving and sweet! and such great parents!!

we started our session with just mommy and daddy, and then we brought in little jacob. youll recognize him by his yummy cheeks! i just wanted to bite him, he was so cute! his older brother nicholas was taking a nap, so we got a few shots of just the three of them until older brother awoke from his slumber. once nicholas woke from his nap, we had a blast! just like the rest of his family, he is so photogenic! i also learned something else about this little guy...he is mom's little protector! as we were walking through the uneven tall grass, he was holding on to her, making sure she didnt slip or trip over any rocks. how sweet is that? it was so cute to see him be so protective of her!

thank you, guys, for braving the dirt and dust! i know the terrain wasnt easy to handle, and getting your shoes and feet dirty was the last thing we wanted! but you were great and i had such a great afternoon photographing you. you make being beautiful parents look fun and easy! thanks for allowing me to capture these moments for you, im honored! you are indeed a beautiful family!

los angeles headshot session

i am so excited about this entry! you probably recognize my beautiful friend jennifer as youve seen her featured here on my blog before. she recently approached me about updating her headshot portfolio, so of course, i was excited to have another session with her. we had such a great time and came out with so many shots that it was difficult to make my selections. after the headshots, we decided to have some fun at a different location. the gorgeous light gave us the most amazing shots, i wanted to keep shooting forever! not to mention she made being in front of the camera so effortless!

i want to thank amber rae for her mad make up skills. amber, you made jennifer look even more stunning than she already is! :)
and thank you to my husband, who made my life easier by carrying all my equipment and looking out for me when i stepped onto uneven pavement. now that i am in my last month of pregnancy, i am pretty clumsy. :P

los angeles family sesssion

a few weeks ago, i had a photo session scheduled with this adorable family. as the day drew near, we had a feeling that the weather would not cooperate, but i went to their home anyway and did a mini session. we had rescheduled for better weather, but conflicts in schedules kept us from being able to get together to finish our shoot. then the day arrived and the weather was just gorgeous, as you will see in our outdoor shots. this taught me a big lesson in having patience and faith that great results are definitely worth the wait! isnt that true with so many things in life?

and look at the smiles on these faces! this is probably one of the most smiles ive ever caught in a session. and mom and dad...well, we can definitely see where the kids got their good looks. ;o)



big brother nathan is so talented! this little guy made so many animals out of his play doh. here is only one example. talk about fine motor skills...just look at the details! and i dont think i have ever seen a five year old with such long attention span - he sat there for almost three hours after this was taken! what parent wouldnt love that? :)




i love the look on dads face...he definitely adores mommy! sooo sweet!!



sweet and adorable joey rae...like her brother, she is a total sweetheart. i caught her having a grand old time with her dolls in our first session. she has such a great imagination!



yes, being cute is certainly hard work. time for a nap! ;)

faces of faith

over a year ago, i met greg and daizy when i went to india with several friends from my church. they were part of the family who hosted our visit. we experienced so much while staying with them. recently, we learned that greg has been battling cancer. they came to the states to spend time with their families and i had the opportunity and honor of doing a brief session for them.
it was a very rainy sunday with no sun, and greg had just finished sharing his story at church. i was aware that he was very tired and eager to get some rest. fortunately, there was an empty room in the next building with lovely backlight. we were able to get a few shots before he headed back to the house for some much needed rest. it was so encouraging to see the smiles on their faces despite what they were facing. i am in awe of their faith and their courage, and i thank them for sharing this precious time with me. we continue to pray for them, for strength and healing.
